I had a great time working for the film; it was one with multiple technical problems and innovative solutions. Our team was equipped with multiple talented artists, both in 2D and 3D walks of life. I was initially responsible for environment art where I modeled, UVed and textured the bedroom and I worked closely with my producer and director in lighting and rendering for the final movie. Furthermore I went to further extent in vellum simulation in houdini creating the child sleeping in the bed and a concept for a planned shot for a monster to climb up the bed but was later cut out more on that later.

One of the great technical challenges of this movie was the scale being relative to the quality of texture. Where the Tooth fairy and the mouse were very small in size compared to the bedroom, and since they were hero assets they required 4k textures i.e. (4098x4098) but the environment in theory required to be much larger but instead eye balling the texture to 8K or 16K it was important to calculate the exact texel density required for the UDIMs.

For maya arnold to render a great sense of lights it requires a proper scale but since are characters are small which in turn makes are cameras smaller and hence required us to create a ratio for the scale as for a mouse to be 6 inches in height be considered a 6ft character the environment would be required to be massive 1:12
